Planning grant wins approval

Good afternoon,

I am pleased to share the great news that the Maine West application to the ConnectME Authority for a planning grant to improve and expand high speed internet service throughout the towns in the Bethel area, River Valley and Oxford Hills was funded this morning. It was, in fact, the top scoring proposal statewide!

We will be working with the NorthernForest Center and  Axiom Technologies to implement the grant. Axiom is a Maine-based company that has a national reputation for its cutting edge digital literacy programs and services, and it is experienced in delivering broadband planning services to rural regions and communities in Maine, including Somerset and Piscataquis Counties.

Together with Axiom, the Northern Forest Center and other Maine West partners, we will be crafting a strategy for creating more robust internet and telecommunications service offerings for the families, communities, and businesses in the region and create a variety of options for rural broadband development.

We will be working with Axiom to develop a detailed project implementation schedule over the next few weeks, and will be in touch you all about the next steps once those details are in place.
